Microsemi Corporation Product Marketing Engineer in Austin, Texas

The Voice Marketing team is looking for a Product Line Marketing Engineer to join our Communications Product Group in Austin, TX. The Product Line Marketing Engineer is responsible for implementing the product strategy including defining new products, launching products to the market through the available channels and securing designs. The successful candidate is also responsible for driving revenue growth and maintaining our market leadership position. Attention to detail and an eye for quality, along with the ability to grasp and translate technical capabilities into benefits is crucial. This role has worldwide responsibilities within the product line.


  • Sales enablement -- communicate the value proposition of the products to the sales team and develop the sales tools that support the selling process of your products
  • Business and investment analysis (market opportunity sizing, identifying business opportunities for Microsemi and business case analysis)
  • Competitive analysis (product and product line positioning)
  • Product road map development (define compelling products and prioritize products to be developed)
  • Ability to leverage Microsemi's core competencies in Voice Communications to growth markets
  • Determine the value add proposition of products and sustainable competitive advantages. Confirm the value add proposition with customers by securing design-wins.
  • Contribute to the implementation of a three years product portfolio plan (including sustaining, enhancement and new products)
  • Develop and maintain relationship with Tier One Customers and Partners
  • Utilize corporate CRM tools to drive design-wins with Tier One Customers, from product conception through release to production, and maintain the opportunity pipeline
  • Determine pricing strategy
  • Drive collateral generation and technical articles
  • Develop the collateral to push the Voice Communications Products through the Microsemi distribution channel
  • Develop the relationships to incorporate Microsemi Voice solutions into partners reference designs and establish cross-selling strategies
  • Create product launch strategies and marketing campaigns including conferences and tradeshows in co-operation with corporate marcom
  • Represent Microsemi externally as an ambassador for the Communications Product lines

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • BS in Electrical Engineering; MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience marketing semiconductor devices for the communication and/or consumer audio markets
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with different functional groups such as engineering, operations and sales
  • Must be a team-player and highly motivated fast-learner with versatile problem-solving skills
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Willing to travel 25%

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated successful launch of products to market including the support of all aspects of the business from product concept to revenue generation
  • Must have experience identifying new business opportunities, creating product ideas, deriving value propositions for products, able to communicate technical information to an engineering team and develop business models
  • Legal and commercial contracts knowledge and negotiation skills
